The original deck had to be torn down and removed.
One of the four 4 x 4 posts was damaged and needed to be replaced, so the old cement and 4 x 4 was dug out and removed. A new post was cemented into place.
The original deck had settled more than desired and was lower along the side of the house, so it needed to be built up higher at the house to allow for drainage away from the foundation.
A new pressure treated deck was built with railings, drink rail and 3 step access. All floor decking was installed with deck screws vs nails to make it more secure and allowing for replacement of individual planks, if necessary.
During the Summer of 2015, we were looking for a company to tear down our old deck and construct a new one. We obtained several quotes from the larger fence and deck companies in Ottawa and then a friend recommended Done Right Handyman Services. Wally came out and gave us an estimate, which was lower than the aforementioned businesses. We were also happy that Wally was available within one week to start construction, whereas the other companies were projecting dates for the Fall.
Wally constructed our deck and met all of our requirements and it was very well built. As opposed to using a nail gun, like many larger companies, Wally screwed in all parts of the deck, including deck boards, making the deck very strong. The job was done within the allotted timeframe and cleanup after the job was done well which was important to us as we have a dog that shares the yard around the deck.
We would recommend Wally & Done Right Handyman Services for your next construction project.
